Plot: An isolated 19th-century village lives in fear of mysterious creatures inhabiting the surrounding forest. When one young woman decides to venture beyond the village's boundaries, everything she has been taught about their world begins to unravel.

Marcela Notes: I vividly remember watching this in theaters and how much energy there was in the audience up until the plot twist that divided viewers! I personall love it, I don't care if it isn't logically sound. Wow. I was soooo in love with Jaoquin Phoenix at this time of my life (and still am). 

Fun Fact: Shyamalan put the entire cast through a 19th-century “boot camp” to prepare them for the period. Joaquin Phoenix even carved Bryce Dallas Howard's character's name, Ivy, into a wooden walking stick he made for her.
