Brother, what on Earth happened to this man in his youth? Is he okay? I cannot believe his first movie ever made was Hereditary, and then to top it with Midsommar? Insane. I much prefer his first two features to his latter more politically driven and comedic films. No one talks about his (in my opinion) extremely problematic student films that you can watch on Youtube. Get back to me on that if you do!
Fine I will allow this one nepo baby. I find his films are yes still body horror but much more angry and visceral than his fathers more dark and moody ones.

I would love to pick this man's brain, pun intended. Body horror makes me so extremely uncomfortable and I struggle to watch, but his films don't rely only on bodily horrors- they're mixed with unique stories, excellent acting, insane character development. All angles slap.
Rest in peace perfect angel and weirdo, we did not deserve you. I rememeber the first Lynch film I watched was Mullholland Drive when I was in high school, having randomly bough it from the *Sam's Club horror movie section*. I was traumatized, confused beyond reason, and on the path to delving into the world of strange cinema instead of mainstream. His films, shows, and personality have shaped a lot of who I am and what I enjoy today. I will always, always, wish that somehow someway I could have met him.
Our generation's father of horror? Legendary comedy to horror master? Creator of purely unique and captivating stories that entice all the senses that are dripping with mastery from every angle from acting to editing to scoring, script, world building, you can tell he has a great understanding of the horror genre, so much so that he is able to create completely new and untold stories. His films are all standalone in their excellence, I have to stop here or I will keep going for three pages. Jordan Peele, the gift that you are to all of us.
Yes, Julia, I love a super fucked up story created by women for women. Tales of sisterhood, finding yourself, and um lots of murder and blood. Raw and Titane are two of my favorite movies, both so stark and shocking upon the first viewing(s) and stick with you long after. I watch these and wish I was an actress and could have starred in these. A true visionary, I honestly struggle to compare her works to others and that is a compliment.
Another horror baddie- Jennifers Body, The Invitation... Yellowjackets!? She understand and portrays both feminine rage and inner anxieties SO well that I am often left squirming in my seat with anticipation. What would the world be without Jennifer's Body? I remember seeing her speak when I saw The Invitation and was wholly disturbed when she said she wrote it from personal experience- not that she almost died at a mass cult murder, but that most Hollywood get-togethers feel exactly like this movie and like the cult murder *could* happen to her. Heebie freaking jeebies. Don't even get me started on the teenage lesbian cannibal fest that is Yellowjackets. Karyn, thank you for what you do <3
Always a fun time watching a Ti West flick! I think my first to see was The House of the Devil back when I was in college, which I truly thought was an 80's movie! He's so great at building atmosphere and set design in all of his films which are all so different from one another. Despite the gore and terror there always seems to be an undertone or sprinkling of humor throughout to keep the mood dark but not devastating. I can't lie, I sometimes confuse him and Adam Wingard's movies (compliment to both).
