Plot: A fading celebrity discovers a mysterious substance that can create a younger, more beautiful version of herself. The catch is that the two versions must share one life according to an increasingly impossible schedule, with horrific consequences when the balance breaks down.

Marcela Notes: The perfect movie does exist? I felt like a kid in a candy store watching this in a theater full of people all squirming in their seats (me included). I would fucking waterfall the Substance if it meant Margaret Qually would burst forth from my spine tbh no question about it. They should have just become lesbian lovers ugh men and fame ruin everything. Monstro Elizasu is babygirl and I would protect her at all costs! Lastly, Dennis Quaid and the shrimp are this generation's Denethor and the tomato, and I'm old enough to have been fundamentally traumatized by both. 

Fun Fact: Ray Liotta was originally cast as Harvey, but he died before filming began and was ultimately replaced by Dennis Quaid (unfortunately womp womp)
