The House That Jack Built

Year: 2018

Director: Lars von Trier

Rotten Tomatoes: 59%

Plot: Over the course of twelve years, a highly intelligent serial killer named Jack recounts five of his meticulously planned murders, viewing each one as a work of art. His increasingly disturbing story becomes a twisted examination of violence, narcissism, art, and morality.

Marcela Notes: Painfully boring and traumatizing as per usual. I will never understand or appreciate the inner working of Lars von Trier's mind, but dammit, I unfortunately at least attempt to watch anything he makes. Unrelated, but Uma Thurman's character is so absurd I didn't even realize it was her until I was checking out the imdb page lol.

Fun Fact: More than 100 people walked out of the film's Cannes premiere, including critics. And then the movie received a six-minute standing ovation afterward. Absolute Cannes behavior.
