Marcela Notes: "Based on a true story." Unrelated but I just now noticed this came out on the day of my 15th birthday! This is not an overtly scary movie, but it really struck me, as I was still a very religious high schooler at the time. It made me think a lot. I also shit my pants in terror at the way Jennifer Carpenter contorted her face and body to play Emily, if you've seen it, you know the scene. More a dramatic retelling than true horror, but I vividly remember losing sleep the week following my first watch.
