Plot: After a devastating personal tragedy, Dani travels with her boyfriend and his friends to a remote Swedish commune for its midsummer festival. What initially looks like a beautiful pastoral celebration slowly reveals itself to be something deeply disturbing.

Marcela Notes: I don't really know anyone who hasn't seen this from not having heard of it, but I know a lot of people who don't watch for fear of traumatization, and they are correct. Trauma makes me sexy, I love this one so much but yeah it does really put me in a bad mood when I put it on. Sometimes I have to skip the opening and get to the good parts (men suffering). The directors cut somehow makes Christian even MORE EVIL and enraging. I showed this movie to my at the time terrible boyfriend for the first time on Christmas night because he didn't get me anything not even a card hehe. 

Fun Fact: The Swedish dialogue spoken by the Hårga is deliberately left unsubtitled in places to make the American characters — and the audience — feel more isolated.
