Irréversible

Year: 2002

Director: Gaspar Noé

Rotten Tomatoes: 60%

Plot: After a woman is brutally attacked, her boyfriend and former lover set out to find the man responsible and take revenge. Told in reverse chronological order, the film turns a revenge story into a devastating examination of violence, fate, and irreversible consequences.

Marcela Notes: I've never watched this entire movie and I probably never will. The scene that made this movie infamous is one I can't sit through- I will never support the enacting of rape in films, especially such an extremely brutal portrayal.

Fun Fact: The opening section contains an extremely low 27 Hz sound frequency designed to cause physical unease. Gaspar Noé said it could be experienced in theaters with powerful subwoofers but generally not through headphones, and it contributed to people becoming physically sick or leaving screenings.
