Plot: Anthony McCoy, a struggling visual artist, moves into a luxury condo built in Chicago's gentrified Cabrini-Green neighborhood. After hearing the legend of Candyman from a longtime resident, Anthony becomes obsessed with the story and begins incorporating it into his artwork. As his work grows darker, the legend begins manifesting in increasingly horrifying ways.

Marcela Notes: Brother, its so good. And its so unique from the original while still respectfully maintainig the story and characters acting as a prequel. The man coming out the hole in the wall nearly gave me a heart attack. I LOVE how they played with mirrors in this one, so cool. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is great, why the hell do you have to scroll down to find him in the cast in IMDB, what the fuck? Unrelated, its a fun stim to say "Cabrini Green" fast and repeatedly. 

Fun Fact: Jordan Peele was originally attached to direct before moving into the producer role and Nia DaCosta took over. DaCosta subsequently became the first Black woman director to have a film debut at #1 at the U.S. box office.
