30 Days of Night

Plot: In the far Northern Hemisphere, the small town of Barrow, Alaska, experiences a solid month of darkness every year. Though most of the residents head south for the winter, some townspeople remain behind. However, those that stay regret their decision when, one year, hungry vampires descend on Barrow to feed. Sheriff Eben (Josh Hartnett), his wife (Melissa George) and a dwindling band of survivors must try to last until dawn breaks over Barrow's monthlong twilight.

Marcela Notes: Um okay wow it deserves at least an 80% RT score truly. We stan a Josh Hartnett comeback moment! Great story, great pacing, great acting all around, great scares, even a great ending. This one kept me from good sleep for a few weeks when I first saw it in high school- the image of the vampire's nail on the record player haunted me. Actually so many shots from this movie haunted me and I still think about how god damn scary these dang vampires are! Completely random but when I was in college at UT Austin, I took a class called Vampire in Slavic Culture (I swear I am truthing) and the professor who taught it got the opportunity to help this movie develop the vampire's dialogue (they inhale as they speak instead of exhale when they vocalize!!!)  I was so jazzed in that class, I love you Professor Thomas Garza!
